 Banasthali Vidyapith is a fully residential university that offers an integrated system extending from the primary to the Ph.D. level. It is the largest residential university for women in the world, a pride of India, and a true nation builder.

Banasthali University has been a leading institution in the field of women education since 1935. The institution has an area extending to 850 acres having numerous buildings of different statures and sizes, housing various academic and administrative blocks.

 Its educational programme is based on the concept of “Panchmukhi Shiksha” and aims at all round harmonious development of personality.

The first woman speaker of the Lok Sabha, Meira Kumar, spent her formative years at the campus, when she was in middle school.

Former Rajasthan legislative assembly speaker Sumitra Singh, recounted, “It was an achievement for my whole family to have their daughter study at Banasthali.” She credited the institute was well ahead of its time in terms of academics and infrastructure.

Singh is serving as an executive member of Banasthali. She completed her schooling and graduation from the institution, to which she owes her deep understanding of national and international issues and her oratory skills. She also reminisced playing the role of a horse-rider in Sohrab Modi’s film Jhansi Ki Rani, which was shot on the campus.

Banasthali Vidyapith is the first University in India that has started ‘Centre for Financial Planning Training and Research for Women’ and has started receiving CSR grants from corporate to support financial literacy for women through free workshops, e-learning modules and knowledge creation through research papers, course inclusion in MBA/BBA and doctoral research in financial planning.

This institute has made full use of the autonomy provided under the deemed university status and has innovatively restructured the courses offered which include subjects ranging from the traditional as well the emerging areas to the highest level of research (leading to the doctoral degree). Banasthali has been accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with ‘A’ Grade (Five star Rating). Banasthali is a recipient of SANTBAL Award in the year 2000 for the services in the field of all round education of women.

ACADEMIC, CAMPUS AND HOSTEL RULES

Academic activities of the students will be strictly guided by the Academic rules and decisions taken by Academic Bodies from time to time.

  • Admission of married students shall not be possible in any other courses except the postgraduate courses. In post-graduate courses too, on very special circumstances only, the married students will be provided admission. After being admitted to a courses, if a student gets married before attaining the age of 18 years, her admission shall be canceled from the Vidyapith.

  • Every student seeking admission to Banasthali shall submit an application on the prescribed form and pay the requisite fee by the prescribed date.

  • Under extra ordinary circumstances the Vice-Chancellor, with the approval of the President, can relax any condition except the minimum eligibility, but all such cases will have to be placed before the Executive Council for concurrence.

  Campus and Hostel Rules :

  1. All the hostels of University come under “Shri Shantabai Shiksha Kuteer” for management purpose.

  2. Vice Chancellor, Banasthali University reserves the right to refuse admission to the hostel without any reason whatsoever.

  3. University reserves the right to cancel the admission of any student after 3 weeks if the proper fees is not deposited by stipulated time.

  4. Hostel reserves the right to refuse admission to those who are irregular in attendance or whose academic performance remained unsatisfactory in the previous year.

  5. It is mandatory to follow the instructions of warden, Chief warden and the Vice Chancellor regarding monitoring the discipline otherwise it may cause termination from the hostels.

  6. It is considered a very serious matter if a student encourages other students(s) to breach any of these rules.

  7. Cooking is not allowed in side the room.

  8. Wearing dresses like night suit, night gown or dressing gown etc. is not allowed at Cafeteria or at the door/ outside hostels.

  9. Electrical stove, emersion rod etc. are not permissible in the  hostel. Such equipment if found in the hostel room will be taken and will not be returned back.

  10. Transistor, Radio, Tape recorder etc. may be used in the room subject to the no objection by other students. If it creates inconvenience it may be taken away and will be returned only at the time of leaving the hostel.

  11. Use of jewelry and cosmetics is uncommon. Students should also not keep excess cash in their rooms. It should be kept in Bank account.

  12. All the correspondence by the students should be through the hostel.

  13. Students above class 10th shall be allowed to keep mobile/sim-card in the boundary of Vidyapith’s hostel. If a student is found using mobile phone/sim-card out of the hostel then the mobile phone will be taken in to Vidyapith’s custody and the student will be liable for disciplinary action against her.

  14. Students are not allowed to visit staff quarters as well as guest house without prior permission from hostels.

  15. Breach of rules & regulations would cause termination from hostel and the decision of Vice Chancellor will be final in this regard which will have to be acceptable to the guardian as well as to the student.
